The modern world has given power for women to excel in all fields from simple work in a shop to space mission handling. Women are brave and strong enough to drive a train. But still, in some places, women’s harassment is taking place. After home, women are in their workplace where they need support and help from co-workers. Most women are succeeding by overcoming all the difficulties faced by they.

In some organizations, women are in top-level positions and they are making their organization a profitable one. These organizations are empowering women with a secure environment and allocating tasks on confidence. With the support and confidence of the organization, they are achieving success not only in their careers but also in the development of the organization. Women lead top companies.

Importance of Empowering Women in the Workplace

Women empowerment in the workplace makes them control over their careers. Empowering women makes them independent and gets equal opportunities and the ability to take decisions in their lives. Giving training, internship programs, mentoring, education grants, and promotion to senior levels make them strong in their career. It gives confidence and helps with career growth. The growth of women not only helps career growth but also the company’s growth. Harward Business Review in 2012 says, “Women are perceived as more compassionate and more empathetic than their male counterparts according to thousands of feedback analyzed”.

How to empower women in the workplace?

Empowering women in the workplace is not an easy one. Companies should involve them in breaking norms, allow them to learn from mistakes, and should accommodate women’s needs in companies and families. Here are given some ways to empower women in the workplace.

Provide Training and Internship

Companies can train their women workers to improve their skills and learn the updating in their field. Internships can also be given to women who are with employment gaps. The internship is not only for fresh graduates. This help to improve the various skills of women in other fields like marketing, service support, etc. Women can re-enter their careers using internship opportunities. This helps their career growth.

Pay with the right wages

In some companies, the wages are different for male and female workers who are doing the same type of work. The work and time are the same for both but the salary is different. This should be avoided. Both of them should be treated equally. Pay the women workers the right salary to feel confident. This makes them financially strong and able to handle family problems.

Trusting for handling new projects

New projects can be assigned to women workers. The project may be big or small and allocated to women staff. Assigning new projects or tasks helps women to learn new concepts and handling of a project. Making mistakes is human nature; let her learn from their mistakes.

Don’t talk about appearance

Always speak about positive things and make women feel better. Don’t talk about their appearance. This may cause an inferiority complex in the mind of women workers. This could also affect the performance of women workers.

Assigning Roles to Women

Women can be encouraged by assigning various roles from low level to high level. When high-level roles are given, she will attain leadership qualities. Promotion makes her feel self-esteemed. By promoting women to high-level posts, the companies are valuing them as equal to men. According to a Catalyst study, Fortune 500 companies with three or more women on the board outperform other companies with 53% more return on equity, 42% more return on sales, and 66% more return on invested capital.

Flexible work schedules

Today many companies allow women workers to work remotely from their homes. The hybrid model of working is trending now. This makes them strong enough to care for their families and from home makes women support their families financially. They can work at their flexible times.

Prevent sexual harassment

Women empowerment in the workplace, where the main thing is safety and security. Organizations must make them feel that they are in a secure environment. Safety is more important than anything else. They will work freely, happily, and efficiently if they feel secure.

Conclusion

Empowering women is not empowering an individual but also for the generations to come. Women can handle any situation with motherhood. She can solve problems more efficiently than men. A woman needs recognition in her workplace to put her efforts into work. When women are treated equally to men then they can achieve in their work. Women hesitate to work when safety is not provided.

Empowerment of women is very good to hear but do you know the real meaning of empowering women? Empowering does not only mean giving her security and respect but it really means giving her freedom of choice, a choice of making decisions on their own.

ABSTRACT

Women empowerment is the need of society, so educate your daughters to make the nation a better place on earth. Don’t discriminate between men and women because everyone is made by God and God gives everyone equal rights with equal power. Provide education to women so that they are able to encourage the future generation of the nation. There is no need to become extra polite with women. There is a need to only cooperate with them, and understand them, and all things would be managed automatically.

Empowerment of women is very good to hear but do you know the real meaning of empowering women?

Empowering does not only mean giving her security and respect. But it really means giving them freedom of choice, a choice of making decisions on their own. No one needs to tell her what to do and what not to do. Give her equal opportunity in society and especially never compare the capability of women with men. Because everyone has their own different capabilities and qualities.

How do empowering women help in developing our economy?

Women are a key to building a strong nation. By providing qualitative education to women we can achieve the goal of empowering women. With this step, the literacy rate of our country would also increase. If our country’s 50% population i.e. none other than women are literate then they can get the job in companies or any government sector easily on the basis of their capabilities.

By empowering the women we can attain an increment in our country’s GDP due to an increase in the number of employed people. By following these steps, employment rate also increases due to which the poverty rate of the country decreases on its own. And by this, we can move one step forward to achieve our country’s development.

CONDITION OF WOMEN

Long-ago women weren’t considered human beings or responsible members of the family or society. They were supposed to either work at home to take care of their children and their family members. Or they were treated as useless as they didn’t contribute to our country’s GDP.

After some years women were seen to work in the fields as labour but they were discriminated against in that area. Also because of gender inequality, they were paid low wages as compared to men. But the amount of work they did was the same as the men did.

But in recent years women live respectfully in society because of a change in the mentality of the society due to awareness about the value of education. Many girls go to school, they get a better education and a better job. They acquire legal rights and protection and get the same opportunity as men.

GENDER EQUALITY

Gender Equality can enhance economic productivity, and improve development outcomes for the next generation. According to the world bank’s development report: a country becomes more developed as soon as these gender gaps are filled by giving opportunities to men and women.

Gender equality is the single biggest thing by which we can achieve the goal of developing a country at a very rapid rate. If we don’t protect women then how men will come. It is mandatory for every child whether he is a boy or a girl he/she should become self-dependent to motivate the next generation to do the same. By this, we can grow by maintaining sustainable development. It is observed that by achieving a 100 % literacy rate all the problems that arise in a country’s development will finish on their own.

Less the literacy rate less is the country’s development and less is GDP of that country. Because in this era also most people believe that there is no need for education for girls. As at the end of the day she is only required to do household chores and look after their children. Many literate people think the same because even the time has changed but their thinking will not change. They don’t understand the value of gender equality, and women’s empowerment they never want the women to become self-dependent.

GOVERNMENT INITIATIVES

But, to be aware of these kinds of people and make them understand how the contribution of women is really precious and needed for the economic growth of our country. The government launched many programmes and did many campaigns like” Beti Bachao Beti Padhao”. For providing them with the education they started compulsory elementary education for girls. To attract more and more people towards this scheme government also launched a mid-day meal scheme. But without the full support of the public especially rural people these schemes have no real worth. Because without the cooperation of the people these schemes couldn’t be implemented properly. And neither country nor the people of the country would be benefited from these schemes.

Along with land, labour, capital and entrepreneurship, other aspects are equally important for the economic growth of our country. It needs a high literacy rate, less unemployment, less poverty and a very important equal distribution of rights and opportunities among men and women i.e. gender equality. These all factors can be easily attained by empowering the women of the country. Because women are always smarter than men in all situations. Whether it is emotionally, physically or mentally she has handled all the situations very calmly and with a hundred percent devotion. Because she is the only person on earth who has the power to regulate and maintain the system of the universe. If we forget the most important person in this world and continuously treat them badly. Then how a country would become economically developed.

CONCLUSION

Empowerment of women is smart economics is not only a topic but is the reality of life because how can only men increase the growth of a country’s economy. Because they are only half of the population of the country and without the support of women the dream of becoming a developed country cannot be achieved. Whether you have all the powers and technologies in your hand as technologies are made by a human being and they need to be maintained by people with intelligence. Now it’s high time to show some courage or to do something big for our nation. By removing all the hurdles to empowering the women. By achieving the goal of becoming a nation in which no one is illiterate. Where no one is poor and not a single person would be unemployed.

The Umbrella Scheme in India | Empowering Women | Food Security

In an Umbrella Scheme, a few schemes come together and form a single scheme for the welfare of the people of the country. It helps to protect the rights and empower the citizens.

An umbrella is a small yet very useful thing. It can protect us from getting wet or getting sick. Similarly, the concept of the Umbrella Scheme is taken from the role of an umbrella. In an Umbrella Scheme, a few schemes come together and form a single scheme for the welfare of the people of the country. It helps to protect the rights and empower the citizens. The previous Umbrella Scheme in India got its approval by The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA). Along with our prime minister, Narendra Modi on November 22, 2017, for the period 2017-18 to 2019-20.

This Umbrella Scheme was mainly made for empowering women. Women who do so much for everyone deserve protection and care in return. This scheme provides it with all. One of its few motives is to empower rural women and unleash their talent to show their potential to the whole world. Other motives include an increase in the birth rate of females, stabilization of Child Sex Ratio, promoting gender equality and educating women about their fundamental rights.

Under this umbrella scheme, 2 schemes are included:

1. Mahila Shakti Kendra; as well as

2. Beti Bachao Beti Padhao

1. Mahila Shakti Kendra

The government of India launched a new scheme named ‘ Pradhan Mantri Mahila Shakti Kendra’ (MSK) for the period 2017- 18 upto 2019-20. It aims to empower rural women through community participation and create a comfortable environment in which they can display their talents.

2. Beti Bachao Beti Padhao

It was launched in the year 2015 by the Ministry of Women and Child Development. It aimed to save the life of a girl child, just because some narrow-minded people consider girls to be a burden on them so they prefer not to give them birth. So this scheme is to educate those people and make them stop doing this crime. This will also help to make the world a better and safer place for girls to live.

SCHEME BEING USED TO BOOST FOOD SECURITY MISSION

The Union Government is deciding to strengthen its food security programmes to prevent the diversion of subsidized food to the poor.

During the pandemic, it became a blessing for the poor, as 5 kgs of dry ration were given to 800 million poor every month. With the help of the National Food Security Act (NFSA) as well as Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY). It also helped to save millions of lives.

It is now reviewing those schemes and seeing how they can be further strengthened for the betterment of the people. The proposals also include the further extension of the scheme PMGKAY and keeping it safe from the loopholes if any. The matter is still being discussed amongst various government agencies like the Food Corporation of India and the decision will be made by a competing authority.
