Organizational culture is a set of core values, ethics and culture of the business organization. It shows how strong and valued an organization is. It can be felt and seen in every aspect, level, department of the organization.

An organization needs to have a very strong organizational culture because it’s India where we are working. Indians always give priority to ethics, values, and culture. It is the base and also the pillar which helps the organization to remain bounded and work as a team. No matter how deep and crucial training is provided for sales, marketing, production, manufacture, supply, distribution. An organization will keep lagging if the organizational culture of that organization is not strong. It shall always be given priority and due care.

Accordingly, one organization can also achieve a dominant position in the market if its organizational structure is extremely strong and dominant.

  • Disciplined mentor: Organizational culture is nothing that can be built overnight and fortnight. To inculcate good organizational culture, a very disciplined and hardworking mentor is needed. A mentor who can be trusted and people look up to them with respect.
  • View about the organization: the owner/proprietor of the organization must be clear and have a strong viewpoint regarding what this organization is about, the type of service they want to provide, the type of employees they want to hire, etc. so that they can deliver can express their views to the employees for their better and clear understanding regarding what type of work they are to be given and in what manner they have to deliver.
  • PERKS FOR EMPLOYEES: Employees always expect something over and above the monetary benefits i.e their growth in the organization. If the employee feels that there are growth opportunities for him/her within the organization, then only they will work for the specific organization for a longer period. If they feel contrary, employees will look for work outside that aligns with their professional and personal growth. Keeping employees satisfied is a very important factor for employee retention.

As organizational culture takes a very long period to incorporate in one’s behavior, like a way of living, it is a way of working in an organization. It consists of all the social practices that one employee has to undergo in an organization, it evolves with time. 

Culture is the result of the way of life, tradition, and heritage of a person. In an organization, a group of people comes from different cultural backgrounds. They come together to work for an organization as a whole and contribute as a whole towards achieving the goal of the organization. It teaches them to respect one’s culture and a way to welcome their culture in an organization. A sense of team spirit is seen when people of different cultures come together to achieve a common goal. 

If we compare organizational culture from the general culture, organizational culture is difficult, complex and unique in its way. One can feel the complexity of organizational culture. It develops very slowly and bit by bit. organizational history, its employees, management, policies are the base of organizational culture.
