The war in Ukraine has entered its fourth week. Residents of the besieged Ukrainian city of Mariupol described the scenario  as “unbearable” and “just hell”. Head of the metropolitan region. The number of dead is unknown.

Many civilians reportedly sought refuge inside the building. Several thousand people are currently desperate there and  the Ukrainian authorities also estimate that up to 2,500 civilians have been killed in Mariupol. 

On Thursday, Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov called the Russian pilot who bombed the Mariupol theater a “monster”. Geotagged satellite images from CNN show the word “children” was written in large letters on both sides of the building. The invading forces are slowly advancing towards the capital, kyiv.

Most of Ukrainian territory remains in Ukrainian hands, while the battle continues to intensify in some areas. The head of the Chernihiv region, northeast of Kyiv and near the border with Russia, said the city of Chernihiv “suffers heavy losses.

Nine evacuation routes leading to several Ukrainian cities, including Mariupol, have been agreed for Thursday, the Ukrainian government said. However, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Wednesday that the evacuation corridors were not working because the Russian military continued to shell them.
