A healthy lifestyle is a basis for leading a good life. A person with good health can achieve more in his life. Our ancestors have lived life for more than a hundred years. But now the average age of a man in India is considered to be around 70 years. Leading a healthy life means not only maintaining physical health but also being mentally and emotionally fit. A healthy lifestyle helps to overcome chronic diseases and long-term diseases. Having good health gives you more confidence.

How to maintain a healthy lifestyle?

To maintain a healthy lifestyle, you have to change your food habit and do simple exercises and yoga regularly. The following are some of the tips to maintain good health. 

1. Track your weight regularly

The first thing in a healthy lifestyle is keeping track of your weight regularly. For example, you can measure your weight weekly once 15 days once, or monthly to find whether you have gained or loosed weight. Based on your weight you can do changes in your food intake and exercise.

2. Avoid Junk and fast foods

Next comes junk food. Try to avoid junk and fast foods. Junk foods have more calories and fat and are low in nutrients like fiber, vitamins, and minerals. These foods contain additives like added sugar, refined oil, salt, preservatives, artificial sweeteners, colors, and flavours. Junk foods are the reason for increased obesity and chronic diseases. 

3. Eat healthy foods

A balanced diet is important for a healthy lifestyle. Make your diet rich in proteins, fibers, minerals, and vitamins and low in carbohydrates and calories. Protein-rich foods like pulses, sprouts, nuts, meat, sea foods, and eggs are good for health. Take green leafy vegetables and fruits daily in your food. The change in food makes your body free from diseases. Healthy food improves your immunity also. 

4. Don’t skip breakfast

Most college students and working women skip their morning food due to lack of time. Breakfast is more important and it may lead to health problems if you skip it. Researchers suggest, taking breakfast daily helps to boost metabolism and keep the body healthy. 

5. Drink enough water

Water is essential for our bodies. Drinking the required amount of water is important for every cell, tissue, and organ. Water helps to lose weight, avoid stress, etc. But most of the time you will forget to drink water. So always fill a water bottle and keep it with you. So you can frequently drink water.

6. Do Exercise Regularly

Your body requires movement. Keeping your body with physical movement helps your bones and muscles to be strong. Doing exercise regularly helps to maintain your body weight and reduces the risk of diabetes, heart problems, and stroke. To do exercise no need to go to the gym. You can do it in your home itself. Now there are more videos available on the internet to teach how to exercise at the home. Go walking or jogging regularly, it helps to keep your mind relaxed and healthy.

7. Have a sound sleep

Sleeping is an important thing to keep our body and mind stable. Sleep for about 7 to 8 hours daily which helps to feel refreshed and energized when you wake up. Lack of sleep causes more health problems like drowsiness, fatigue, and loss of concentration. It may also lead to mental depression. Avoid using mobile phones during the night. The light from mobile phones disturbs the production of the sleeping hormone melatonin.

8. Avoid alcohol and smoke

Avoid the use of alcohol and smoking which affects your healthy life. Smoking can cause cancer so avoid it. Taking these limit your intake of food and exercise and lead to various health issues. 

9. Avoid stress

Stress is the major cause of many health problems. So try to avoid stress. Most people get stressed in their work. So plan well, before starting the work and work stress freely. If you do the task under a stress you cannot complete it in the allowed time. Make yourself stress-free and your co-workers also.

10. Maintain Hygiene

A healthy lifestyle requires good hygiene also. Keep yourself and your surroundings clean and healthy. Poor hygiene is one of the reasons for many viral diseases.

11. Getting sunlight

Sunlight is one of the most essential sources for getting vitamin D nutrients. So get at least 30 minutes of sunlight daily.

Today people are suffering from many health problems. These problems can be avoided by having a healthy lifestyle. Let’s start to follow these healthy ways to change our lifestyle into a healthy one. By changing their lifestyle, people have overcome their health issues. From today onwards change your food habits and lead a healthy lifestyle.
