Immunotherapy with Herbal Remedy : Therapeutics for Cancer Treatment

A combination of Immunotherapy with Herbal Remedy could be a promising Therapeutics for Cancer Treatment.
Pharmaceuticals science is the backbone of medical science that is mostly contributed by the plants. Plant has been a proven important source for the alleviation of various diseases of human beings since, from the archaic period. Cancer refers to the growth of cells in an abnormal fashion due to a genetic mutation. It is estimated 9.6 million deaths globally; about 1 in 6 deaths is due to cancer (WHO 2018). However, there are various types of cancer responsible for global death and most of the cancer brings immunocompromised conditions that make the body infection residence for the foreign antigen. It has become a dreadful disease for the 21st century that continues to demand action. Currently, there is no efficient drug or therapy is available for the treatment. However, a combination of different synthetic drugs & therapy are used for the treatment that brings the same problem toxicity, side effects, and reappearance of symptoms after the discontinuation of the drug. Therefore, major attention is being given to look for better and safer therapy or drugs which could be promising therapeutics for cancer.
In this pandemic we have learned many lessons from the coronavirus. Among them boosting our immune system is one of the most important. Yes, if our immune system is strong then the entry of foreign antigen will get prevented. Rather to focus on the cure, it is better to educate our immune cells which eradicate the altered cell and fight with infection. Our body possesses a complex cascade process to fight with cancer. This process is known as Immunotherapy. Different Immunotherapy work in different ways like some of them slow down cancerous growth, some prevent the growth and some destroy the cancer cell. Some examples of immunotherapy are T-cell therapy, Monoclonal antibody, Immune modulators, etc. In T-cell therapy, T-cell extracted from a patient tumor which is most active against the cancer cells. After slight modification in-vitro and put back into the same patient. Therefore, the chances of side-effects are very less because T-cell is a part of our immune cells. Monoclonal antibody (MAb) is the antibodies that are made in-vitro to boost our natural defence and antibodies. Antibodies are previously present inside our body. It gets activated when it finds something harmful inside the body and these antibodies help to neutralize the infection.
Another lesson learned from coronavirus is to live in contact with nature and avoid the use of artificial and synthetic products. There are a number of synthetic drugs for the treatment of cancer that induce complications in the human body. To avoid such complications it is necessary to use natural methods for the treatment of cancer. There are various types of plants that have been used for the treatment of cancer. Neem, Tulsi, Turmeric, chiretta, Zinger, Onion, etc. possess anticancer properties that might be used for developing anticancer drugs. Therefore, we should focus on herbal remedies which require intensive research on various plants. Exploring the medicinal value of such indigenous plants will help to combat chronic diseases. This results in the possibility and hope of developing natural and novel anti-cancer drugs.
