‘Dear Milind’
Author – Anmol Gilra
Life is kind of a funny game;
It’s beautiful and kind but truly is terrifying
I still remember vividly, the last time you shared a meme with me
Not so long ago
What seemed funny back then drives home a strange difficulty
Among the countless things on my fingertips,
I remember your selfless deeds
These past two months have haunted me
The pangs of your loss, your non-existence
Dreams, they mirror the mind
And the more I see you in them, the more colourless reality seems
I wish, I wish the heavens had better plans
The fear ranges: Will I ever find a gem like you in this world again?
No face, no company shall ever substitute
The magic you housed
Galaxies apart, the bond I made was one for life
Through the void and stillness, your laughter still echoes through my memory lane
The trouble is this conviction
My belief that souls like you deserve a better life
In this plane of existence and the many others
This world will never comprehend
The full value of your life
Fate tore us away
And with it, everything around me
Falling, crumbling, crashing
Into smithereens
In my heart, I know I shall see you again
Beyond the constraints and bounds of time and space
I hope the sunsets are just as breathtaking as you
I hope no gardens run out of the papery bougainvillea
That mirror the light that you are,Milind
It will never be the same
Until we meet again
But your memories and this leftover peace
Will have to suffice.
