‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhaoor ‘Save Daughters, Educate Daughters’, means saving daughters or girls from being killed at an infant stage and teaching them so that they can do something to bring laurels to their family and country. However, there are still some people in the country who consider a girl child as a burden and kill her as soon as she is born. With changing times this mindset has to be changed.

A girl child is not a burden, when you can educate a son and give him a good upbringing, then why not to a girl child? The belief that the daughter is a stranger’s wealth, ‘Paraya Dhan’, and even if we teach her one day she has to leave and go away. It is high time this thinking be changed.  Today, if there is anyone in the forefront of the country, then it is the girls who are achieving victory at every stage and in today’s time, girls have reached far ahead of the boys.

The Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Damodar Das Modi ji had launched a government scheme Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao on January 22, 2015 which started to work upon the upliftment of the pathetic condition of girls in the Indian society.

Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Campaign:

The Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign’s main objective is to give women all the rights that they are deprived of.

The main objective of starting ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ Yojana is to improve the number of girl children, to protect, to improve education, eradication of female foeticide, personal development, professional development etc. Through the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ Yojana, daughters will be given birth keeping them away from crimes like female foeticide, they will be educated and money will be provided by the Government of India for their marriage so that they can be married.  Through this scheme, the Government of India will determine the strict punishment against the people doing female foeticide and infringing rights of a girl child.

To implement this campaign in all the states and union territories by the government, it was implemented in about hundred selected cities of the country through a national campaign.  Through this scheme, by eradicating gender discrimination in the whole India, girls are encouraged to be independent both economically and socially.

When did the campaign start?

Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme was started on January 22, 2015 by the Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi from Panipat, Haryana. The objective of starting this scheme is to educate girls and women; protect them and provide facilities to help them in marriage etc. Due to crimes like female foeticide, there is a huge decrease in the ratio of boys and girls, in which this scheme has been very active to improve.

Effect on reduction of female ratio

When the census was conducted in the country, it was seen that gradually the number of girls is less than that of boys. Where the number of boys is one thousand whereas girls are only 932 and gradually this number is decreasing, in some time this number can be 900/1000.

 Objective of The campaign

In any way, if people come to know about the presence of a girl child in the womb of a woman, then she is killed in the womb itself, but if she somehow survives, then after birth she is killed. The girl child is deprived of her rights which she should get. It has proved to be a very good plan to end many social atrocities. Through this scheme, all families will get equal rights for their sons as well as their daughters.

Need of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign

A girl child plays many roles in her life, but if they die or are denied their rights, their mental and physical development is stunted.  ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ scheme was started to make girls understand their rights and responsibilities towards them.

Daughters are the future of our country and the most important thing is that the girl is the form of goddess. The goddess whom we worship everyday, we pray for the happiness and peace of our family but when the same goddess is born in the house, she  Don’t kill your daughter by calling her a burden, give her a chance, teach her, write, then see how she proudly raises the name of herself and her family in the country. Today girls are ahead of boys in every field, whether it is IAS, PCS, JUDGE, ARMY, BUSINESS or any post and work. Girls have proved to be better than boys in every field. It is happening and will continue to happen in the future, they just need them. Don’t consider the daughter as a burden, consider it as your pride. Daughter is the pride of our country.
